[Bull Head’s Barbecue Sauce 250g]

Also known as Shacha Sauce or Chinese Satay sauce, this intensely umami concoction is made from a blend of dried fish, dried shrimps, garlic, ginger, shallots and spices.

How did this sauce come to be? It could be traced back to the 20th century, when many Chinese immigrants arrived in Southeast Asia, particularly in Malaysia and Indonesia. Delighted by the delicious peanut-based satay sauce in Southeast Asia, the Chinese adapted it to their own taste buds, including the introduction of dried seafood to the sauce. This recipe was brought back to Taiwan, Chao San and Fujian regions and popularized.

We know that many Malaysians have fallen in love with this condiment. It is so versatile – you can use it as a dipping sauce, a stir fry sauce, or even a hot pot base! Try it today!
